Adams Rite 4085-01-IB HEADERBOLT
Adams Rite Header Bolt for Pairs of Doors, 4085-01-IB
When used in conjunction with an MS pivoting bolt deadlock, the header bolt from the 4085-01-IB series serves as the third locking point at the top of the door for pairs of doors. The inactive leaf is where the 4085 header bolt is installed. This supplementary bolt expands in a "scissors" motion to align itself in its strike as it rises when triggered by the pivoting MS bolt. Even if the doors are out of alignment as a result of poor installation or settling, this action spares the key holder the hassle of aligning up the doors with three consecutive strikes. Any standard MS1850S/MS1850SN or MS1950 deadbolt may be upgraded with the three-point features. It works by turning the key or thumbturn 360 degrees to release the basic MS deadlock, which then launches the counterbalanced bolt into the opposing door, turning the positioner bolt into a header strike. To save key-bow effort, the positioner bolt can be manually fired before closing the active leaf. Only after the bolts are positively locked or unlocked can the key be withdrawn.
Function: When combined with a 4015 Threshold Bolt in the active leaf and a pivoting bolt MS deadlock, this device adds a third locking point at the top of the door for pairs of doors. The inactive leaf has the 4085 Header Bolt installed on it. When the MS bolt pivots, a second bolt is fired, which expands in a scissor-like motion to align itself in its strike as it rises. Even if the doors are out of alignment as a result of poor installation or settling, this action spares the key holder the hassle of aligning up the doors with three consecutive strikes. A basic MS1850S, MS1850SN, or MS1950 Series deadlock can be upgraded to a Maximum Security three-point locking system by adding the 4085 Header Bolt and the 4015 Threshold Bolt.
Operating Principle: When the basic MS deadlock is turned 360 degrees, a counterbalanced bolt is thrown into the opposing door, kicking a positioner bolt into a header strike. To save key-bow effort, the positioner bolt can be manually fired before closing the active leaf. Only after the bolts are positively locked or unlocked can the key be withdrawn.
