What is Z-Wave technology?
Z-Wave technology is a series of home automated devices, such as lights, locks, thermostats, and other electronics, that can be controlled remotely.
Z-Wave devices use low-power, 900 Mhz radio frequencies to achieve wireless communication with a host of home automation devices. Occasionally, these devices have been known to interfere with some cordless phone signals that communicate in a similar frequency range. However, more up-to-date technologies that communicate at higher frequencies, like Bluetooth or WiFi signals, will remain uninterrupted.
Z-Wave compatible devices work like repeaters, so despite their individual 30-foot signal ranges, they can easily cover residential spaces. Z-Wave devices can be controlled using a Honeywell alarm panel keypad, like the Tuxedo Touch or the LYNX Touch L5100.
