What is an unsupervised button RF?

Wireless Key fobs and panic buttons are usually programmed using the unsupervised button RF device type.

The reason they are unsupervised is because users often take these devices outside the range of their home security system. If supervised, these out-of-range devices would cause an error status on your control panel. Designating these devices as unsupervised RF buttons lets users take them anywhere without causing any unnecessary system errors. For most Honeywell LYNX Control Panels, key fobs and panic buttons are usually programmed as an input device in the *56 field programming.
