Are SLA and VLRA batteries the same thing?

Yes, SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries and VLRA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) batteries are two different names for the same thing.

Both refer to a fully-rechargeable battery containing electro-chemical cells. This battery type is sealed to prevent electrolyte leakage and requires no maintenance. Most of these batteries have a vent built-in to the battery to help release internal battery pressure that can build up as a result of over-charging.
